I still consider James Blish an elegant writer. But I have to question one or two of the plot changes he made in some of these adaptations; for example, the fate of Decker, see above. But it’s fine—this was the story I wanted to write about in a competition when I was ten years old, so 140 years later, here it is. So mote it be, so may it lay.
