They were in the sitting room. The sun had gone down and the servants had been dismissed for the day.

The only Red Baron movie I ever saw was the one aka VON RICHTHOFEN AND BROWN, directed by Roger Corman and written by OMEGA MAN scribes John and Joyce Corrington. It suffered from the casting of two charisma-free actors in the leads, John Phillip Law and Don Stroud. Watching the competition between them was akin to dramatizing the battle between the irresistible force and the immovable object.
Well, that flick sounds fascinating! We’ll have to scope it someday! This is the movie I was wondering about, from 2008: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0365675/
Didn’t the Red Baron have a cameo in THE BLUE MAX? Von Richthofen was a character in an episode of THE YOUNG INDIANA JONES CHRONICLES. Not directed by Joe Johnston, but the episode does treat us to an interpretation of this über-plane:
